LONDON: Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino's late header sent Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Anfield last night.
Mohamed Salah left footed shot from the centre of the box to the top right corner at minute 26' put Liverpool ahead before the Korean star Son Heung-Min fired a low shot to make it 1-1 for Tottenham at minute 33' of the first half.
Although Liverpool had most of the possession in both half of the game, the visitors had key chances from Harry Kane that headed wide from close range and Steven Bergwijn strikes that only hit the post instead of the back of the net.
As the game is about to find its end, Tottenham were stunned by Firmino's powerful header assisted by Andy Robertson's corner kick at minute 90' of the game.
Although Firmino's late winner was only his third goal this season, Klopp says he hopes Firmino "never doubts himself" when people are surprised when he scored as he is still an all-round forward that contribute to Liverpool's attack.
Liverpool is now at the top of the league with three points ahead of Tottenham who suffered their first defeat in 12 matches.
