  KUALA LUMPUR: DHL Express has successfully delivered the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines to Malaysia. The express service provider said rigorous planning and testing were undertaken to ensure supply chains support the vaccine's stringent temperature requirements. "From door-to-door in just three days, DHL Express worked with Malaysia Aviation Group's cargo subsidiary, MABkargo Sdn Bhd to fly the vaccines in and subsequently arranged for them to be sent directly to designated facilities across Kuala Lumpur," it said in a statement on Sunday. It said one of the key challenges faced in the shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine is the stringent temperature requirements of the vaccine.  The vaccine was delivered in specially designed thermal shipper packaging customized by the manufacturer.   FMT The health ministry has reported a new record of 4,029 Covid-19 cases and eight deaths in the past 24 hours. This is the first time the number of infections has surpassed the 4,000 mark. The previous record high was 3,337 cases in a day. Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,148 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 117,375. In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 155,095. There are 37,126 active cases with 206 patients receiving intensive care, of which 79 require respiratory assistance. Meanwhile, the eight deaths bring the toll to 594 of the new cases today, only eight were imported while 4,021 were local infections. Every state and federal territory in the country reported infections today. Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,466 cases, followed by Johor with 719 and Sabah with 449. The new cases raised Malaysia's cumulative confirmed Covid-19 infections to 97,389, from just 65,697 cases at end-November. The reason of the extension is due to the recent trend of Covid-19 positive cases that have remained in three and four digits. However, the extension will not affect districts of Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, and Hulu Selangor that showed lower risk and number of cases.
